| Four Legs Up Fainting Goat Farm, owned by Kevin & Tara Gross, is a small family farm located in the beautiful Great Plains of South Central Nebraska. We purchased our first two Fainting Goats in April 2007 and it didn't take long for us to realize how spectacular these goats could be! Four Legs Up Fainting Goat Farm now raises quality medium to large Fainting Goats that need only minimal care and maintenance. Our herd includes horned, polled, and blue-eyed Fainting Goats. Fainting Goats are not a breed found on many goat farms. They are a rare and, according to the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy, threatened species with an estimated global population of less than 5,000. However, Myotonic (Fainting) Goats are our breed of choice. They are naturally docile animals and due to their myotonia, they can't jump as high (which helps keep them off of our vehicles and in their fence!). Because of their smaller size and slow growth, Fainting Goats take up less space and eat less than larger meat goats while still producing a higher meat-to-bone ratio than other meat goats. We highly recommend them to anyone wanting to be or already in the 'goat business'. Our fainting goats are wormed only on an as needed basis following the FAMACHA chart and we give minimal vaccines and/or antibiotics. While we feel there is nothing wrong with producers vaccinating their goat herds against diseases the goats may be susceptible to, we try to provide as close to a natural way of living as possible for our Fainting Goats. We rarely need to trim our goat's hooves and we cull goats that we feel will not fit into our program. All of our Fainting Goats are or will be registered with the Myotonic Goat Registry. We have recently purchased several boer does and we will be offering Fainting Goat/Boer crosses for meat and breeding in the near future. We have begun the process of testing our herd for Johne's Disease, CL, and CAE. All tests have been negative! If you want to learn more about Myotonic Goats, visit our What's a Fainting Goat? page.
